Hello! I’m Kristine—beekeeper, potter, and the heart behind Stone Horse Apiary & Apothecary.

I grew up in Massachusetts, where science was a constant companion. But when I moved to Virginia, my life took an unexpected turn. I discovered beekeeping, and it completely transformed my world. What began as a spark of curiosity turned into a full-blown passion. Before I knew it, I was knee-deep in bees and absolutely loving every minute of it.

Today, I care for anywhere from 30 to 100 colonies, each hive its own little universe. Beekeeping isn’t just something I do—it’s who I am. It’s hard work, it’s messy, and sometimes it can be heartbreaking. But it’s also deeply rewarding. Watching a hive thrive is pure magic, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of that process.

I’m proud to be a Virginia Master Beekeeper and to have earned the Langstroth Award. But at the end of the day, those titles are just a reflection of my deep love for this craft. Beekeeping has taught me patience, resilience, and how to find joy in the smallest things—like the hum of a healthy hive or the golden glow of freshly harvested honey.

Beyond the hives, I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned. I volunteer with local and state organizations to support other beekeepers and to teach people about sustainable agriculture. To me, knowledge is like planting seeds—it grows into something bigger than any of us.

In my shop, you’ll find things I’ve poured my heart into: raw honey, hand-poured beeswax candles, small-batch soaps, and my pottery, all crafted with care for the bees and the environment. When you bring something from my apiary into your home, you’re not just supporting a small business—you’re supporting the bees, the earth, and a community that believes in craftsmanship and sustainability.
